CJN Mourns Justice Alagoa, Hails Him As A Rare Breed
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has described the late Justice Alagoa as a distinguished legal mind, free of arrogance and elitism.
Speaking at a valedictory court session in Abuja on Wednesday, Justice Kekere-Ekun praised Alagoa’s courage and unwavering dedication to justice. She emphasized the importance of leaving behind a positive legacy, noting that his contributions to the judiciary would remain an enduring source of inspiration.
“His lordship’s passing reminds us all that life is fleeting, and we must strive to leave behind footprints worthy of remembrance. Even in death, his legacy endures as a beacon of wisdom, integrity, and humility,” she stated.
The CJN highlighted Alagoa’s towering intellect and methodical reasoning, describing his judicial pronouncements as brilliant and impactful. She also encouraged his family to uphold his legacy of fairness and dedication to the rule of law.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, also paid tribute to Alagoa, recognizing him as a fearless jurist who used legal tools to drive governance and societal progress. He noted that although Alagoa’s tenure at the Supreme Court was brief, his legal opinions sparked national discussions that continue to resonate.
Fagbemi commended the CJN for organizing the special court session to honor a man who dedicated his life to the service of justice in Nigeria.
