YC Maikyau: The Birthday Wishes And The Torrential Rain of Encomiums By Hussaini Hussaini

It comes to me as a surprise that today (6/2/2022) is the birthday of the learned SAN, YC Maikyu. I wish I had earlier notice to pen down even better kind words for this exceptional legal Icon. We just woke up to a raining season of praises and encomiums to this honorable gentleman which one cannot help but join.
On Friday (4/2/2022), we attended the NBA Unity (Abuja) Bar monthly meeting after which the YC Maikyau talks dominated the conversation of some senior bar men as usual, and I was privileged to be involved. One of the senior lawyers who works with one of the recently elevated SANs narrated to us an account of his boss’s encounter as a younger lawyer with Mr Maikyau, SAN as follows:
The boss, as a younger lawyer, won a case for his clients and when the case was appealed, their boss filed a respondents’ brief for the said clients, after which the clients attempted to debrief him and brief YC Maikyau who was then already an SAN. This is a usual trauma that non-SANs lawyers in litigation go through. They will win cases for their clients in a lower courts, but when the case goes to appeal, most especially, when the opposing party employed the service of an SAN, most clients get intimidated and be tempted to also brief an SAN to protect their victory on Appeal, usually resulting in the debriefing of the younger lawyer.
So, when Mr Maikyau was briefed by those clients, he called their boss and informed him that he had been briefed to take over the case and had been paid a certain amount of money (he disclosed the huge sum to him). However, he informed him that he was not willing to take over the case from him, and that he had reviewed his brief of argument which he found apt and perfect. Therefore, he would handle the case with him and he would lead him in court to adopt the brief he has filed. He also asked him to send his account details and he instantly sent him about 40% (Forty percent) of the said huge amount he was paid. We all know certainly that it takes exceptional kindness for an SAN to share his fees almost equally with a junior colleague.
These are the kinds of beautiful narrations we all are seeing and reading today which equally translated to the so many kind words which have clouded social media skies today to block the sun and place Mr. YC Maikyau, SAN in its place as the shining star of the moment. The learned SAN has built his reputation several years ago and the thousands of torrential good wishes he received today have proved the point. So, what more can a poor writer like my humble-self write to make this wonderful accomplished good man look better than he has achieved?
Dear Sir, I am short of words to congratulate you on this day. I however wish you a joyous celebration and more happy returns. May God continue to shower his blessings on you and your family, as you continue spending your life to brighten the lives and days of your fellow colleagues and humanity.
Congratulations, and Cheers to an accomplished life of honour and sacrifices!
