Y. C. Maikyau, SAN Felicitates With Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, OFR On His Platinum Jubilee

On the 18th of November 2021, respected Barman and the Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) turned 70 years old.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Welfare Committee, Yakubu C. Maikyau SAN has joined the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and several eminent Nigerians to felicitate with the renowned lawyer, who was one-time Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, a former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, and Council Member of the International Bar Association (IBA),

GREAT men abound in life. The Nigerian Bar has indeed been blessed with a fair share of great men. You, without doubt Sir, count amongst the great men that have bestrode the legal profession and etched an indelible path for others to follow. Your trajectory as Chairman, NBA Ilorin Branch; Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ondo State; President, Nigerian Bar Association and now, Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers amongst many other positions you have held and accolades you have received, bear testimony to the ingenuity, consistency, dedication, hard work and most importantly, the abundance of God’s Grace over your remarkable life. Little wonder you made “God’s Grace” the flagship of your firm, which -true to the name- has been blessed to produce even more great men who are dotted around the country.

When you assumed the office of the Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers, I was privileged to have congratulated you. May I take the liberty to repeat a part of what I said then:

Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Y. C. Maikyau And Wole Olanipekun, OFR

“This is to congratulate you on your appointment as the Vice Chairman of the exalted Body of Benchers of Nigeria. This is yet a testament to your immense contribution to our noble profession of law, with its impact felt within and outside Nigeria. Thank you for your purposeful leadership and mentorship which you bring to many you may not have met or known. We are witnesses of the investments you have made and still make to the profession and like a popular Nigerian Preacher will say, “Only fools doubt proofs”. We refuse to be foolish!!”

On this joyous occasion of the celebration of your 70th birthday, I would like to join the Nigerian Bar Association and the country at large, to thank God and celebrate you on reaching this important milestone on this side of eternity. You are indeed an epitome of God’s grace!!

I pray that your path continues to shine the brighter and long may you live and continue to thrive in the land of the living.

It is only befitting that the Wole Olanipekun & Co Justice Summit, with the theme “Implementing Justice Sector Reforms” is being held on this joyous occasion of your platinum jubilee. Your love, passion and drive for the justice sector and indeed, justice delivery mechanisms cascade to many of us who see you as family, friend, mentor, colleague and a prominent national figure.

I do hope that beyond the erudite speakers at this event, you would do us the honour of lending your voice to the important theme of the summit.

Happy birthday sir!

Y.C. Maikyau, SAN, FCIArb(UK)
Chairman, NBA Welfare Committee.
