Wike Recognizes Philip Aduda As FCT Senator

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has once again snubbed Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, while reaffirming his support for Philip Aduda, as the only Senator he acknowledges for the territory.

Senator Kingibe, who triumphed over Aduda in the 2023 General Elections under the Labour Party (LP), has yet to gain Wike’s recognition, with the Minister continuing to ignore her role as the FCT Senator. Their strained relationship appears ongoing, with Wike recently emphasizing the importance of meaningful engagement with constituents, rather than relying on empty rhetoric. “Politics no be grammar,” Wike remarked, indirectly addressing Kingibe’s Senate performance, calling for politicians who deliver tangible results over those who merely speak eloquently.

Wike further lauded Philip Aduda as an exemplary leader who genuinely connects with the people, stating, “He’s the only senator I know.” In what could be seen as a subtle hint about Kingibe’s future in the Senate, Wike added, “We will send people who will listen to the people… and come back to say, ‘This is what you sent me to do, and this is what I have brought.'”

This is not the first time Wike has suggested that Kingibe may not return to represent the FCT in 2027.
