Wike Launches 19-Day Project Commissioning To Mark Tinubu’s Second Anniversary

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced a 19-day project commissioning exercise. This exercise aims to mark President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

The decision followed the 14th Executive Committee meeting of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), which Wike chaired.

According to Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, the project commissioning will begin on June 10, 2025, and continue for 19 consecutive days.

Wike stated that the series of project launches will showcase completed infrastructure and ongoing developmental efforts across the FCT.

Projects to be commissioned include the renovated Abuja International Conference Centre, bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, and the Apo–Wassa road.

Other highlights include the N16 interchange and connecting roads from Maitama through Katampe to Jahi, and the Inner Northern Expressway from Idu to Kubwa.

Also included are the CN8 road linking Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Court of Appeal and the N20 flyover on Onnex-Kubwa Road.

The authorities will unveil the roads from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, Kabulsa–Takushara, and Kabusa–Ketti.

Additional projects span Giri District, a 15-kilometre road from the A2 Junction on Abuja–Lokoja Road to Pai in Kwali, and roads in Bwari Area Council.

In line with this project-focused agenda, Wike announced that the Executive Committee had approved the upgrade of streetlights along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway.

Richard Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), confirmed the approval of seven FCDA project proposals.

He noted that the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway lights, installed over 15 years ago, have become outdated and ineffective.

Dauda explained that a new hybrid lighting system will be deployed to enhance road visibility and safety at night.

Wike emphasised that the project commissioning underscores the Tinubu administration’s commitment to infrastructure, development, and security in the FCT.
