[WATCH] Falz Reveals Inspiration Behind Studying Law, Says “I Wasn’t Pressured”

Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has clarified the motivation behind his decision to study law, dismissing claims that he was pressured into it. Speaking on the With Chude podcast, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Falz revealed that his choice to pursue law was inspired by his father, Femi Falana, a renowned human rights lawyer.
Falz explained that growing up, he saw the profound impact his father had on the lives of others, which fueled his own desire to follow in his footsteps. “Everyone had a story about how my dad came to their aid… I wasn’t pressured; I aspired to emulate what he was doing,” Falz stated.
Although Falz briefly practiced law—working at the Ministry of Justice during his youth service and later at his father’s law firm—he eventually shifted to music full-time. “I did practice law for a short period… Very short, almost two years,” he said, laughing.
Falz’s remarks highlight his genuine interest in law, inspired by his father’s legacy, while clearing up misconceptions about external pressure.
