Victor Osimhen Sues Turkish Journalist For Defamation Over Assault Allegation
Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Turkish journalist Tolga Bozduman, who accused him of assault.
The incident allegedly occurred following Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Dynamo Kyiv two weeks ago. Bozduman claimed Osimhen punched him while he was attempting to take photographs of the footballer outside a venue.
Adding to the controversy, reports suggested Osimhen offered money to have footage of the altercation deleted.
Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli and enjoying an impressive season with Galatasaray, has vehemently denied the allegations.
In a video shared by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray, Osimhen stated, “I didn’t hit the journalist; they are lying. Why are you flashing your face? You have to ask permission for an interview. I told them to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.”
He continued, “If I hit him, he’s going to get justice, and if he lied, he’s going to get the wrath of the law.”
Nigerian radio host Buchi Laba confirmed Osimhen’s defamation lawsuit against Bozduman, with legal proceedings beginning on Monday, January 27. The striker aims to clear his name and address the allegations through the courts.
