UK Condemns Israel for Deporting Two British Lawmakers
Foreign Secretary Slams Israel’s Actions

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy strongly criticized Israel for detaining and deporting two British lawmakers. He called the move “unacceptable, counterproductive, and deeply concerning.”
British MPs Denied Entry into Israel
Labour Party MPs Yuan Yang and Abtisam Mohamed flew from London to Israel on a parliamentary delegation. However, Israeli authorities denied them entry and deported them, sparking swift backlash from UK officials.
UK Demands Respect for Its Parliamentarians
Lammy stated he had expressed disapproval directly to Israeli officials. “This is no way to treat British parliamentarians,” he said. He confirmed that the UK had contacted both MPs to offer support.
Focus Remains on Ending Gaza Conflict
Lammy reiterated the UK government’s focus on restoring a ceasefire in Gaza. He urged continued negotiations to end the conflict, release hostages, and stop the bloodshed.
Political Reactions Intensify in Britain
Conservative MP Kemi Badenoch told Sky News she wasn’t surprised Israel barred the Labour MPs. She also criticized Labour’s “rhetoric” on Israel.
Lammy fired back on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing, “It’s disgraceful you are cheerleading another country for detaining and deporting two British MPs.”
Violence Escalates in Gaza
Meanwhile, Israel has intensified its military operations in Gaza, aiming to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages. The renewed offensive followed the collapse of a temporary ceasefire.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, 1,249 people have died since Israel resumed attacks. This brings the total death toll in Gaza to 50,609 since the war began.
The conflict started on October 7, 2023, after Hamas launched an attack on Israel that killed 1,218 people—mostly civilians—according to Israeli figures.
