UI Law Faculty Dean Congratulates Kabir Akanbi On Supreme Court Chief Registrar Appointment

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan, Professor J.O.A. Akintayo, has expressed immense joy over the appointment of Kabir Akanbi, a distinguished alumnus of the institution, as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
In a statement issued on February 8, 2025, Akintayo described Akanbi’s appointment as a significant achievement, noting that the role of Chief Registrar is the highest position occupied by a non-judicial officer within Nigeria’s judiciary. He highlighted the office’s crucial responsibilities, including the custodianship of the Roll of Legal Practitioners and its function as Secretary of key statutory committees such as the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.
“That one of us has risen to this important height through hard work and divine preferment is a source of tremendous joy to us as Law Alumni of the prestigious University of Ibadan,” Akintayo stated.
On behalf of the staff, alumni, and students of the Faculty of Law, as well as the entire University of Ibadan community, Akintayo congratulated Akanbi who was his Administrative Law student in the University, and prayed for his success in the new role. He also extended well wishes to the Akanbi Legal Dynasty and the Ibadan Law Alumni, expressing confidence that Akanbi would continue to serve the legal profession and the judiciary with excellence.
