NBA AGC 2025 To Tackle Political Questions With Legal Experts In Enugu

 

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) AGC Committee has unveiled the moderator and speakers for a key session titled “Rethinking Political Questions” at its 2025 Annual General Conference in Enugu.

The session will feature Professor R.A.C.E. Achara as moderator. Achara, a Nigerian Professor of Law and practicing lawyer, has been active in litigation since 1987 and became a Professor of Law in 2004. He is the Principal at Prof. R.A.C.E. Achara Law Chambers and is recognized for his extensive contributions to legal scholarship and advocacy.

Honourable Justice Onyi Anumonye of the Anambra State Judiciary will join as a speaker, bringing judicial insight into the discussion on the complexities of political questions in law.

Also on the panel is Usman O. Sule, SAN, a Lokoja-born Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Principal Partner at U.O. Sule & Co. Sule is widely respected in the legal community and is known for his work as a human rights activist, often taking on pro bono cases to promote justice and fairness.

The final speaker, J.J. Usman, SAN, is the Principal Partner at J.J. Usman SAN & Co and a distinguished figure in Nigerian legal practice. His expertise in complex litigation and constitutional matters is expected to enrich the debate.

The session will explore the scope and interpretation of political questions in Nigeria’s legal framework, examining how they affect governance, judicial review, and the separation of powers. The NBA anticipates that the discussion will provoke deep reflection among delegates on the role of courts in resolving politically sensitive disputes.

The 2025 Annual General Conference, themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall,” will run from August 22 to 29 in Enugu and will gather prominent voices from the legal profession to address critical issues shaping Nigeria’s justice system.
