Trump Removes First Woman To Lead U.S. Military Service From Coast Guard Command

President Donald Trump’s administration has dismissed Admiral Linda Fagan, the first woman to head a U.S. military service, from her position as the head of the U.S. Coast Guard.

While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees the Coast Guard, has yet to comment on the decision, sources reported by Fox News attribute the removal to Fagan’s alleged failure to address border security concerns, an overemphasis on diversity and inclusion efforts, and a perceived erosion of trust related to the Coast Guard’s handling of sexual assault investigations.

Trump, who has made border security a central issue of his agenda, declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border on his first day in office, signaling a focus on stricter enforcement.

In a message to the Coast Guard, acting DHS Secretary Benjamine Huffman expressed gratitude for Fagan’s service, stating, “She served a long and illustrious career, and I thank her for her service to our nation.”

Fagan, who took command of the Coast Guard in 2022, previously served as its vice commandant and has had a distinguished career with assignments spanning all seven continents, including locations such as Antarctica, Africa, Tokyo, and Geneva. Her biography, previously available on the Coast Guard’s website, has since been removed.
