Trump Calls For Impeachment Of US Judge Over Migrant Deportation Flights

President Donald Trump has intensified his attacks on the judiciary and calls for the impeachment of a US federal judge who blocked the deportation of alleged illegal migrants.

In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump lashed out at District Judge James Boasberg, accusing him of being a “Radical Left L*natic” and demanding his removal. “This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED,” Trump wrote.

The controversy erupted after Boasberg halted deportation flights carrying alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua to El Salvador. The White House justified the deportations under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, but no public evidence has confirmed that the deportees were gang members or even in the country illegally.

Boasberg later held a hearing on whether the White House defied his order, but Justice Department lawyers argued that by the time the ruling was issued, over 200 migrants had already been deported, making the judge’s decision unenforceable.

While the impeachment of federal judges is rare—last occurring in 2010—Trump’s post has already gained traction among Republican lawmakers. Texas Rep. Brandon Gill announced on X (formerly Twitter) that articles of impeachment would be introduced in the House “very soon.”

Trump, the first convicted f*lon to serve as President, has a history of criticizing judges who have ruled against him.

He accused Boasberg of overstepping his authority, saying, “I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY.”

Boasberg, 62, was initially appointed to the D.C. Superior Court by Republican President George W. Bush before being elevated to a district court judgeship by Democratic President Barack Obama.

Trump’s push for judicial impeachment has sparked concerns over executive overreach. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts recently cautioned against ignoring court rulings, warning in a year-end letter that such actions could lead to a constitutional crisis.

“Elected officials from across the political spectrum have raised the specter of open disregard for federal court rulings,” Roberts wrote. “These dangerous suggestions, however sporadic, must be soundly rejected.”

With Trump’s escalating attacks on the judiciary, tensions between the executive and judicial branches continue to mount, raising questions about the future of legal checks and balances in the U.S.
