Transgender Rape Suspect Found Dead Before Court Appearance

A 37-year-old individual, Maddison Wilson, who identified as a woman and was charged with serious sexual offenses, including the rape of a young girl, has been found dead. Wilson was due to appear at Southampton Crown Court to enter pleas but the case was discontinued after it was revealed that she had passed away.

According to reports from Mail Online, Wilson had appeared at a magistrates’ court two weeks prior to her scheduled crown court appearance. The case involved charges of rape and other historic sexual offenses against children, which allegedly occurred in Hull and Southampton between 2011 and 2020.

Details surrounding Wilson’s death remain unclear, but preliminary inquest records indicate that she died on February 14 at a seafront location near a historic castle in Southsea, Portsmouth. The Hampshire coroner’s office confirmed that Wilson was found hanged just after midnight on February 14, two days after her magistrates’ court appearance.

A full inquest is scheduled to take place at a later date. During her court proceedings, Wilson wore a pink headband and all-black clothing, and only spoke to confirm her preferred pronouns as “she/her.” The official court charge sheet identified Wilson as a female, though it is not specified how long she had identified as such. The rape charge specifically mentioned that Wilson allegedly assaulted a girl “with your penis.”
