Isaac Mathew, a police officer with the Ebonyi State Police Command, has been demoted from Corporal to Constable for allegedly promoting a secret confraternity.
The officer, dressed in full police uniform, was seen singing, dancing, and brandishing an AK47 rifle in praise of an alleged secret confraternity in a TikTok video that went viral on May 7.
This came after an orderly room trial and a review of the recommended punishment for the offences of Discreditable Conduct, Promoting Secret Cults, and Violation of the Nigeria Police Force’s Social Media Policy (SMP), Force spokesperson, CSP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Sunday.
He posted on Twitter that orderly room trials of officers’ unprofessionalism and misconduct in encounters with members of the public are ongoing, and decisions will be made.
