NBA Annual General Conference 2025 Opens in Enugu with Global Dignitaries
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, South African politician Julius Malema, and over 20,000 lawyers gather in Enugu for the NBA’s 2025 AGC.

The 2025 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference (AGC) officially opens today in Enugu, the Enugu State capital, drawing more than 20,000 lawyers, legal minds, and distinguished guests. Among the high-profile attendees are former President Olusegun Obasanjo and South Africa’s firebrand politician Julius Malema.
A Vibrant Start in Enugu
NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, led thousands of lawyers yesterday in a health walk through the city’s major roads, setting the tone for a week of engaging sessions and networking. He described Enugu as a fitting venue for this year’s theme, “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”
“Enugu represents hospitality, beauty, and peace. It is the perfect backdrop for conversations on building Nigeria into an economic giant in Africa,” Osigwe told reporters. He added that Malema would arrive in Enugu today, while Obasanjo will chair the opening ceremony.
Enugu Prepared for Global Spotlight
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, assured participants of a memorable experience, noting that Governor Peter Mbah had long positioned Enugu as a hub for large conferences.
“From the launch of Enugu Air to the commissioning of 100 CNG buses, modern transport terminals, and the revamped Hotel Presidential, the state has been strategically prepared to host events of this scale,” Onyia said. “Visitors will find it easy to move around, feel safe, and enjoy our hospitality.”
