Afam Okeke Demands Immediate Release Of Kidnapped Lawyer, Peace Udoka Onyesom

The Immediate Past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch, Afam O. Okeke, Esq. has condemned the abduction of Miss Peace Udoka Onyesom.
Onyesom, a recent graduate of Ambrose Alli University, attended the Nigerian Law School Enugu Campus before her Call to Bar in Abuja on Tuesday, 23rd September.
She was reportedly kidnapped while returning from the Call to Bar ceremony. Her destination was Benin City, Edo State.
Family sources said her last known location was around Lokoja, Kogi State. Contact with her was lost at about 12 pm on Friday.
The notice revealed her personal number as 08135538123 and the last number she called as 08058525334.
Okeke described the abduction as “tragic and unacceptable” and urged security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the young lawyer.
“I strongly condemn the abduction of Miss Peace Udoka Onyesom and call on security agencies to act decisively for her safe release,” he declared.
He stressed that it was imperative for law enforcement to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the kidnapping.
The incident has shocked the entire legal community, which recently celebrated the Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleague during this painful time. We stand with her family, friends, and community in demanding her prompt and safe return,” Okeke said.
The abduction underscores ongoing security concerns on Nigerian highways, particularly the Abuja–Lokoja–Benin route, which has recorded several kidnappings.
Okeke also reminded authorities that the safety of young lawyers, professionals, and citizens must remain a priority in national security policies.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and provide any information that may assist security operatives in securing Onyesom’s release.
Meanwhile, colleagues have circulated her details widely on social media, appealing for public support and solidarity until she regains her freedom.
