Supreme Court Appointments: NBA Calls For Petitions As It Releases Names Of 23 Nominees

Pursuant to a request received from the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman, Federal Judicial Service Commission requesting nominations of suitable candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court Bench from the following Geo-Political Regions: South- East, South- South, South-West, NorthCentral and North-West, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) issued a circular on 7th February, 2022 requesting its members who are interested in being nominated to forward their expressions of interest.

The NBA has received expressions of interest from 24 of its members whose names, geo-political zones, states of origin and place of practice/employment are listed below:

In its commitment to ensuring that the process for the appointment of judicial officers of our superior courts is made more transparent and that only persons of the appropriate character and reputation are appointed to the Bench, the NBA publishes this list of potential appointees and requests that members of the Bar and the general public who know of any reason why any of the above listed persons should not be considered for appointment to the Supreme Court Bench should forward a petition stating their reasons.

The petition should be received at the National Secretariat of the NBA on or before 25th February, 2022 in hard copy or by email addressed to:

All petitions should include proof of the sender’s identity. Anonymous petitions will not be considered.
