PDP Loses Majority as Lawmakers Defect to APC

The Edo State House of Assembly has removed Natasha Osawaru, PDP lawmaker and singer 2Baba’s partner, as minority leader. Her removal follows the defection of four PDP lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC), shifting majority control to the APC.

Key PDP Leaders Removed in Assembly Reshuffle
The Assembly also ousted Charity Aiguobarueghian, former majority leader, and Yekini Idaiye, former chief whip. Meanwhile, PDP members Blessing Agbebaku and Maria Edeko retained their roles as speaker and deputy speaker, respectively.
APC Assumes Control, Appoints New Leaders

Acting APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe formally notified the assembly of the party’s new majority status. In response, Speaker Agbebaku announced new APC appointees in Edo:

  • Ibhamawu Aigbokhan (Majority Leader)
  • Addeh Isibor (Deputy Leader)
  • Lecky Hussein Mustapha (Chief Whip)

    Agbebaku added that the PDP will nominate replacements for remaining principal positions. He also hinted that leadership roles, including speaker and deputy speaker, could face future review.

Natasha has drawn public attention since music star 2Baba confirmed his split from Annie Idibia and revealed his engagement to her. Her role in the Assembly and her personal life continue to keep her in the headlines.
