Security Agents Arrest Suspects For Vandalizing Abuja Highway Sewage Manhole Covers

Authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have apprehended several individuals suspected of stealing sewage manhole covers from highways.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who revealed ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend collaborators, including buyers of the stolen manhole covers.

Olayinka highlighted the determination of stakeholders to curb these criminal activities. He also conveyed the minister’s dismay at the audacity of vandals removing essential public amenities for personal gain, noting the significant danger posed to citizens by their actions.

“It is disheartening that public funds are used to create amenities for the comfort of Nigerians, yet some criminally minded individuals destroy these amenities to sell them for profit,” Minister Wike stated.

The minister further praised the patriotism of a concerned citizen whose viral video exposed the theft, emphasizing that such efforts represent the dedication needed to address these issues.

Efforts are ongoing to ensure that all individuals involved in the theft, including those who purchase the stolen items, are brought to justice.
