The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has expressed profound gratitude following a solidarity visit by Female Lawyers in Politics—a group dedicated to mentoring women in public service.
Describing the visit as a reassuring moment for women in leadership, Meranda reaffirmed her commitment to impactful governance and pledged to uphold the trust placed in her.
“I am overwhelmed by this visit. Seeing strong, intelligent women standing by me gives me immense joy. I assure you that I will not disappoint my gender and Lagos State,” she stated.
She further encouraged women’s active participation in governance, assuring that the House is open to private bills that contribute to the progress of Lagos State.
Hon. Kehinde Joseph, representing Alimosho Constituency 02, urged women to be more vocal in their support for the Speaker, emphasizing that her emergence was a deliberate decision by the House based on competence.
President of the group, Barrister Abimbola Badia Jack-Oladigba, described Meranda’s emergence as a historic milestone, while Secretary Omowunmi Ogungbaigbe encouraged her to set a precedent that surpasses her predecessors.
The visit underscored the collective commitment to advancing female representation in governance and fostering a more inclusive political landscape.
