Rivers Head Of Service Resigns As New SSG Appointed

 

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice-Admiral (rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has confirmed the resignation of the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, describing the development as unfortunate, new SSG.

Ibas acknowledged Nwaeke’s contributions during his tenure and extended his best wishes for his future endeavors. In the interim, Dr. Iyingi Brown, Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed as the Acting Head of Service until a permanent replacement is named.

While announcing the leadership changes, Ibas reiterated his commitment to maintaining neutrality, peace, and stability in the state.

Additionally, he appointed Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).

Worika, a native of Okirika, Rivers State, holds a Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom. He has held various academic, international, and governmental advisory roles, including serving as the Director of the Centre for Advanced Law Research at Rivers State University and as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Port Harcourt.
