Rivers Attorney-General Declines Redeployment, Resigns From Fubara’s Administration

Zacchaeus Adangor, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, has declined his redeployment as Commissioner for Special Duties and tendered his resignation from the state executive council.
This development comes after Zacchaeus previously resigned from his position as Attorney-General on December 14 amid the political standoff between Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Despite returning to the government after being reconfirmed by the state House of Assembly along with other commissioners who resigned during the political crisis, Zacchaeus has opted to step down once again.
Governor Fubara recently reshuffled his cabinet, leading to Zacchaeus being redeployed as the commissioner for Special Duties within the Governor’s Office. However, Zacchaeus has rejected this new appointment.
In his resignation letter addressed to the Secretary to the Rivers State government, Zacchaeus cited Governor Fubara’s interference in the execution of his duties as Attorney General as a reason for his decision to resign.
