Rivers Assembly Issues Arrest Warrant For State Electoral Commission Chairman

The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a warrant of arrest against the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Retired), for failing to appear before the House as requested.
During its plenary session on Monday, the Martins Amaewhule-led Assembly directed law enforcement agencies to arrest Enebeli after he failed to comply with a 72-hour ultimatum to appear before lawmakers.
The development follows RSIEC’s announcement of August 9, 2025, as the date for fresh local government elections in Rivers State. This comes after the Supreme Court annulled the October 5, 2024, local government polls, prompting the electoral body to schedule a new election.
