Presidency Denies Reports Of Visa Ban Lift By UAE
The Nigerian Presidency has refuted recent reports claiming that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted the visa ban imposed on Nigerians.
The news, which circulated on Tuesday, was based on a document that surfaced around midday. The document, purportedly from the X handle of the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that the visa ban lift took effect from March 4, 2024.
However, it has been revealed that the story was a hoax originating from an unauthorized source.
Senior officials from both the Nigerian and UAE governments are currently in discussions to finalize the modalities for the lifting of the ban. As of press time, these discussions were ongoing.
Confirming the situation, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Onanuga, took to his X handle on Tuesday to address the issue. He stated, “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”
