Police Rescue 27 Trafficked Foreigners Held Hostage In Lagos Apartment

The Lagos State Police Command has rescued 27 trafficked foreigners who were allegedly held hostage in an apartment in Isheri Oshun, Lagos.

Confirming the development on Monday, March 10, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the victims had been lured into Nigeria under false promises of employment.

According to Hundeyin, the rescue operation was triggered by a distress call from one of the victims, who reported that they were being held against their will and prevented from leaving the apartment.

“The Complaint Response Unit (CRU) received the call and immediately alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area. Officers stormed the location, forced entry into the apartment, and found 27 foreigners inside,” Hundeyin said.

The rescued individuals include 18 males and nine females, with some identified as Ghanaians and nationals from the Republic of Benin.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine whether Lagos was their intended final destination or if they were being trafficked elsewhere. All victims are now safe and in police custody.
