Police Arrest Notorious Cattle Rustlers, Gunrunners, And Kidnappers In Kaduna
The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven suspects, including notorious cattle rustlers, gunrunners, and kidnappers, in a series of operations across the state. The arrests were made during targeted raids aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna Police Command, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday. He disclosed that the police also foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle along with ammunition during the operations.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives conducted a successful raid on a hideout used by a notorious cattle rustling syndicate in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna. Two suspects, Aminu Saleh (25) and Jafar Ibrahim (24), were apprehended during the operation. The suspects confessed to their involvement in cattle rustling and revealed that they were part of a larger syndicate, with four other members still at large.
In another incident, a man named Shafiu Abdullahi reported receiving threatening phone calls demanding a ransom of N10 million. The callers threatened to kidnap him if the ransom was not paid. The Police’s Tracking and Response Team swiftly responded, using advanced techniques to locate and apprehend the suspects. The arrested individuals, identified as Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim, are residents of Soba and Kajuru LGAs in Kaduna State. They also confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Additionally, the police arrested two suspects linked to the illegal supply of arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. The suspects, identified as Dahiru Liman (47) from Garin Kurama village, Lere LGA of Kaduna State, and Sani Abdullahi Makeri (45) from Kankara LGA of Katsina State, were found in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Hassan said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the illegal arms trade and other criminal activities. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Audu Dabigi, urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to support the ongoing efforts to maintain security across the state. He reassured residents that the command is committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
