The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lokoja Branch has successfully concluded its 2025 elections, ushering in a new leadership team.
Past National Officer of the NBA, Okey Leo Ohagba, congratulated Chair-Elect Sumaila Adeku Abbas and Secretary-Elect F. O. Ekpa. He also extended warm wishes to all members of the newly elected executive committee who emerged victorious at the polls.
Ohagba described their election as a strong vote of confidence from colleagues who believe in their vision, commitment, and leadership capacity. He expressed optimism that the new administration will steer the Lokoja Branch to greater heights.
In his statement, Ohagba prayed for divine guidance for the new officers as they begin what he called an onerous assignment. He urged them to build on the foundations already laid, ensuring that the branch maintains its reputation for inclusiveness and professionalism.
He also commended the outgoing chairman, Samuel Akoji, and his team for their dedication to unity, transparency, and justice. According to Ohagba, the outgoing leadership instituted credible mechanisms that guaranteed a seamless transition in the Lokoja Branch.
Ohagba stressed that the peaceful election reflected the NBA’s values of fairness and internal democracy. He encouraged members of the branch to rally behind the new leadership for collective progress.
Observers hailed the conduct of the elections, noting the absence of rancor and the orderly process which reaffirmed confidence in NBA internal systems.
As the new leaders prepare to assume office, members expressed hope that the incoming administration would strengthen professional development, enhance welfare, and deepen collaboration among Lokoja lawyers.
The election marks another milestone in the NBA’s commitment to entrenching democratic practices within its branches. With this successful transition, the Lokoja Branch is poised for renewed growth and service to its members.
