Oyo Government Trains 80 Enforcement Officers On Legal Framework And Law Enforcement Psychology
The Oyo State Government has trained over 80 enforcement officers and relevant law enforcement agencies on legal frameworks and law enforcement psychology to enhance compliance with newly introduced laws under the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.
The two-day training session drew participants from various agencies, including:
Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA)
Environmental and Sanitation Task Force
Amotekun Corps
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
Operational Security Outfits
The objective was to help enforcement officers better understand human behavior in law enforcement and ensure compliance without unnecessary conflicts.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Justice Aderonke Aderemi, Chairperson of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA), emphasized the importance of equipping officers with knowledge on three major laws in the state:
Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) Law
Environmental Protection and Sanitation Law
Anti-Open Rearing and Open Grazing Prohibition Law
“This gathering is not just a training event but a step towards strengthening law enforcement strategies, improving compliance, and promoting a safer and more orderly society in Oyo State,” she stated.
She further warned that violators of environmental laws, anti-open grazing laws, and traffic regulations could face penalties or jail terms if found guilty.
The creation of OYRLEA highlights Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to public safety, environmental sustainability, and economic progress.
Hon. Justice Aderemi urged participants to approach law enforcement with professionalism, stating, “Enforcing laws requires more than just knowledge; it involves strategy, psychology, and public cooperation.”
In his remarks, Oyo State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbojubola, urged officers to see themselves as agents of change, ensuring that their impact is felt across communities.
Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Oyo State Head of Service, represented by Mr. Akeem Ademola Audu, noted that the Oyo Rule of Law Enforcement Authority has already had a visible impact in Ibadan, urging the agency to intensify efforts in enforcing state laws.
Facilitators, including Dr. Bamisaye Olutola and Macaulay Modupeore Ojukotimi from LASTMA, provided insights on legal frameworks, enforcement strategies, and compliance measures under OYRTMA laws.
Participants affirmed that the training enhanced their understanding of law enforcement psychology, making their duties more effective and seamless.
The event was attended by top government officials, including:
Hon. Justice Eni Esan (Rtd.), Chairperson, Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA)
Hon. Justice Olajumoke Aiki, Chairperson, Anti-Land Grabbing Agency

The training reinforced the need for a law enforcement system that encourages voluntary compliance, minimizes conflicts, and fosters public trust.
With ongoing reforms, Oyo State aims to create a safer and more law-abiding society, ensuring that both enforcement officers and residents understand their rights, responsibilities, and the consequences of non-compliance.
