Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja Condemns Ohanaeze Ndigbo Election Outcome, Calls For Unity Among Ndi Igbo
Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja has expressed deep concern and disappointment over the recent Ohanaeze Ndigbo election, which has resulted in factionalization within the association.
The group strongly condemns the division, stating that it undermines the collective strength and aspirations of Ndi Igbo, posing significant challenges to their unity and progress.
The emergence of multiple factions within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, each claiming legitimacy, has created confusion and discord among Ndi Igbo, weakening the association’s ability to address critical national and global issues.
Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja warns that these divisions are detrimental to the socio-political influence of Ndi Igbo, particularly at a time when solidarity is essential to advancing the region’s interests.
“This fragmentation dilutes our advocacy efforts on critical issues such as security, economic development, and cultural preservation,” the group noted. “It compromises our ability to present a unified front, leaving us vulnerable to external manipulation and undermining our socio-economic advancement.”
The association also emphasized the far-reaching consequences of the internal discord, including an erosion of collective identity and disillusionment among younger generations. It urged all factions to prioritize the unity and well-being of Ndi Igbo over individual ambitions.
“Reconciliation is not a sign of weakness but a path to strength and collaboration,” said Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja. The group called for immediate open dialogue involving leaders, youth representatives, and other stakeholders to reconcile differences and restore Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s integrity.
The association proposed the establishment of a strategic plan encompassing the goals and aspirations of all segments of Igbo society, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration, accountability, and collective responsibility to rebuild trust among Ndi Igbo.
In conclusion, Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to foster unity and progress for Ndi Igbo. It pledged support for any efforts aimed at reconciling differences and strengthening Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the apex socio-cultural organization representing the Igbo people.
