Osun Governor Orders Probe Into Ilesa High Court Fire, Condemns Attack On Judiciary

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly condemned the arson attack on Ilesa High Court 2, calling it a direct assault on democracy. He described the incident as unjustifiable and vowed to ensure the perpetrators face justice.

Fire Destroys Sensitive Legal Documents

Suspected arsonists set the court building ablaze on Sunday night, destroying critical court records, exhibits, and causing major structural damage. Firefighters arrived late, and reports confirmed that case files—some tied to high-profile matters—were already lost in the flames.

Governor Orders Investigation and Security Reinforcement

Governor Adeleke directed security agencies to investigate the attack thoroughly and arrest those responsible. He also ordered tighter surveillance around all court facilities in Osun to prevent future incidents.

Rehabilitation of Damaged Court to Begin Immediately

In addition, the governor instructed the Attorney General and the Commissioner for Justice to work with the Ministry of Works for speedy rehabilitation of the court. He emphasized that the judiciary must not be allowed to suffer setbacks from criminal acts.
