Ondo State Attorney General Condemns Unlicensed Security Outfits
The Attorney General of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, has strongly criticised the growing presence of unlicensed security outfits operating within the state. Dr. Ajulo made this statement during a community policing summit held in Abuja, expressing deep concern over the proliferation of unauthorised security groups.
Speaking at the summit, Ajulo highlighted the illegal activities of these unregistered organisations, particularly calling out estate owners who recruit individuals with questionable backgrounds. He condemned these actions, stressing that they undermine public safety and the rule of law.
Ajulo commended the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for prioritising the security of the state. He praised the governor’s efforts in equipping law enforcement agencies with numerous security vehicles and essential equipment to combat crime and ensure the safety of the state’s citizens.
“The laws regulating the operations of security outfits in Nigeria are clear and must be adhered to,” Ajulo stated, warning that any violations pose a significant threat to the lives and property of residents. He also addressed the growing reports of harassment from these unlicensed groups, urging law enforcement to take swift action to profile their personnel.
“When laws and regulations exist, they must be followed,” Ajulo emphasised. “Any infringement must be met with strict enforcement and penalties to uphold the rule of law. The law must prevail—even if it means heaven must fall.”
Reassuring the public, the Attorney General added, “Heaven won’t fall because the government has the necessary powers, agencies, and structures in place to ensure we maintain law and order and secure our communities.”
Ajulo called on all stakeholders to collaborate in addressing this pressing issue, emphasising the importance of working together to create a safer environment for all residents of Ondo State.
