OFFICIAL: LPPC Opens 2026 Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Application Portal

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has officially announced the commencement of applications for the 2026 conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
In an official statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, Kabir Eniola Akanbi, Esq., and made available to The Metro Lawyer news desk today, the Committee said the application portal — www.lppconline.com — will open to the public at 12:00 a.m. on November 1, 2025.
According to the statement, all applications must be submitted online in line with Section 5(2) of the Legal Practitioners Act, Cap L11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and Paragraphs 10(1)–(4) of the 2022 SAN Guidelines.
Applicants in private legal practice are to pay a non-refundable processing fee of ₦5,000,000, while those in government service will pay ₦2,500,000.
Payments should be made in favour of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (SAN) account to:

After payment, applicants must upload evidence of payment on the application portal to receive confirmation from the LPPC Secretariat before proceeding.
The LPPC also directed that all applicants — whether advocates or academics — must upload clear and legible copies of mandatory and supporting documents as outlined in the 2022 Guidelines.
Academic applicants are required to submit seven photocopies each of their Curriculum Vitae and Impact Statement.
After uploading copies of all mandatory or supporting documents online, all applicants’ shall also submit five (5) flash drives containing a copy of their completed application form (downloaded from the online portal) as well as copies of all the mandatory and supporting documents uploaded on the online platform to the LPPC Secretariat.
Applications and all supporting materials must be submitted online at www.lppconline.com by 12:00 noon on January 31, 2026, while the required flash drives must be delivered to the LPPC Secretariat by 4:00 p.m. on February 2, 2026.
The Committee warned that any late or improperly submitted applications would be treated as invalid.

The SAN rank remains Nigeria’s highest professional honour in the legal profession, awarded to lawyers who demonstrate excellence in advocacy or academic contributions to law.
