Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has inaugurated five new judges into the Edo State High Court, underscoring the importance of upholding justice and fairness in the judiciary.
During the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Obaseki reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary, emphasizing its crucial role in the democratic process.

“In addition to infrastructure development, we are encouraging the adoption of digital technology in the judiciary. The state has invested in digital infrastructure, including a fibre optic network spanning over 2,000 km. I urge the judiciary to leverage these digital resources,” he added.
Governor Obaseki thanked the Chief Judge for his continued support and assured that complaints or petitions regarding judicial appointments would be carefully reviewed and addressed in consultation with the National Judicial Commission (NJC).
“We are awaiting the decision of the NJC on pending petitions, and we will adhere to their recommendations. I congratulate the newly appointed judges and urge them to uphold justice and fairness in their duties,” Governor Obaseki affirmed.
