OAP Dotun’s Estranged Wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo Found Guilty Of Contempt Of Court, Risks Jail Term

A divorce petition lodged in Abuja by Taiwo Oyebanjo, the younger sister of Dapo “D’Banj” Oyebanjo and the ex-wife of OAP Dotun Kayode, resulted in her conviction for contempt of court and potential incarceration.

Taiwo Oyebanjo was found guilty on Monday, October 23, by a high court convened in Dukpa, Abuja, for violating the court order pertaining to the joint custody of the couple’s children.

Until the fine is remitted, she faces a possible prison sentence. She is obligated to remit a fine of N200,000 within thirty days.

It is important to recall that the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife shared custody of the children in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21, subsequent to Dotun’s request in April 2022.

However, Dotun has allegedly not had custody of the children since December 2022, despite the fact that both parties initially complied.
In addition to pursuing legal action, Dotun utilized social media to discuss their concerns.
Since June 2023, Dotun’s ex-wife, according to allegations made on social media, has flown his two daughters out of Nigeria, preventing him from seeing them.

On Monday, October 23, the court stated that Taiwo’s refusal to grant Dotun Kayode access and custody of the children in December 2022 constituted disobedience to the order of the court and ordered that she pay the sum of N200,000 within 30 days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.

Taiwo was absent in court at the time the judgement was delivered.
