Nursing Mother Allegedly Murders Maid For Watching TV With Her Children In Owerri
A nursing mother in Owerri, Imo State, has sparked outrage after allegedly causing the death of her underage maid, reportedly for watching television with her children.
A video circulating online captures the dramatic aftermath at a hospital in Owerri. The woman, seen carrying her baby, is surrounded by an angry crowd accusing her of causing the maid’s death. In the video, the lifeless body of the young girl is seen lying on a hospital bed.
Despite the community’s agitation, a voice in the crowd cautioned against physical harm to the woman, stating, “Guy, no hit am, no hit am.” Another voice added, “She’s going to NAPTIP straight.”
According to journalist Nonsonkwa Ochi War, neighbors apprehended the woman after the tragic incident. Reports suggest the maid was punished after being caught sitting with the woman’s children to watch TV, a punishment that allegedly led to her death.
In the video, the nursing mother attempts to explain herself, claiming she had returned from the market and was cooking. However, the crowd’s angry chants drowned her voice, with onlookers labeling her “wicked” and expressing outrage at the condition of the maid’s body.
“Is that not someone’s child?” one person exclaimed, while others filmed the maid’s body, pointing out injuries allegedly inflicted by the woman.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with many demanding justice for the young girl.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the case as investigations continue.
