Ogala Withdraws Petition Against Anze-Bishop’s NBA Candidacy

Samuel Ogala, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch, has formally retracted his petition against Caroline Ladidi Anze-Bishop’s candidacy for the NBA elections.

Initially submitted to the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) on April 22, 2024, Ogala’s petition alleged non-compliance with Section 8(3)(b) of the NBA Constitution.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the ECNBA, Ogala clarified that he initiated the petition in exercise of his legal rights as an NBA member, refuting claims that it was at the behest of his principal, Mr. Femi Falana SAN, as suggested by some media reports. He underscored that his decision to withdraw the petition stemmed from a lawsuit filed by Paul J. Magga at the Federal High Court Abuja, with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2024, addressing the same subject matter.

Ogala emphasized that with the matter now sub judice, it would be impractical for him to appear before the ECNBA committee as scheduled on Thursday, April 25, to discuss the petition’s contents. Consequently, he formally notified the ECNBA of his withdrawal based on this legal premise.
