Nigerian Lawyers To Elect New President, National Officers Tomorrow July 20
Ahead of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections scheduled for Saturday, July 20, the Electoral Committee has assured Nigerian lawyers of free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA), Oluseun Abimbola (SAN), urged lawyers to continue cooperating with the electoral body to ensure a successful election.
Mr. Abimbola made these remarks during the Manifesto Day and Presidential Debate for all candidates contesting for National Officer positions within the Association. The highly interactive session, moderated by Channels TV’s judiciary correspondent Shola Soyele, provided candidates with an opportunity to present their plans and manifesto ahead of the elections.
The NBA National office elections will commence at midnight on Saturday, July 20, and will run until 11:59 PM the same day.
Three candidates are vying for the position of President of the NBA: Senior Advocate of Nigeria Afam Osigwe, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Chukwuka Ikwuazom, and Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe. The winner of the election will succeed the outgoing President, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Yakubu Maikyau.
The term of office for the President is two years. In total, 28 candidates are contesting for 10 positions within the NBA.
