Nigerian Lawyer Rescues 23-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Abused By Boyfriend

A 23-year-old woman, who was allegedly subjected to repeated physical abuse by her boyfriend, has been rescued by human rights lawyer Toyin Ndidi Taiwo-Ojo.
Taiwo-Ojo disclosed the rescue in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, stating that the woman suffered severe beatings from her boyfriend, who is also the father of her child, even just three weeks after childbirth.
According to the survivor, the abusive partner frequently assaulted her, denied her access to a phone, and locked her indoors all day, accusing her of infidelity despite knowing she was with his mother. He allegedly forced her into isolation, controlling her every move and even demanding she enter a blood covenant with him, which she refused.

Her own mother, influenced by financial dependency on the abuser, repeatedly sent her back to him despite her cries for help.
The boyfriend’s mother also confirmed his obsessive and violent behavior, expressing her exhaustion over his mistreatment of the young woman. She urged Taiwo-Ojo to intervene, fearing for the victim’s life.
Now, the survivor is in a safe environment where she can finally sleep without fear of further attacks.
