Nigerian Law School Class Of ’85 To Honour Justice Amina Augie, Fidelity Bank MD, Others At Lagos Reunion
The Nigerian Law School Class of 1985 has announced plans to honour several distinguished individuals, including retired Supreme Court Justice Amina Adamu Augie and Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Fidelity Bank Ltd, during their upcoming reunion in Lagos.
The event, which coincides with the 2024 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), will be held at the Sir Adetokunbo Ademola Hall at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. The reunion will serve as a platform to recognize not only their former teacher, Justice Augie, but also classmates who have recently been elevated to the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
A joint statement from the Class Chairman, Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN, and the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the reunion, Mrs. Adeyinka Aroyewun, revealed that seven judicial officers (both serving and retired), three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), and various executives from the federal bureaucracy and private sector would be honored during the event.
The reunion will be chaired by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.
Among the honorees are Justices Moore Adumein and Adewale Abiru of the Supreme Court, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo of the Court of Appeal, Justice Anthonia Ubaka of the National Industrial Court, and Justice Ngozika Oji of the High Court of Enugu State.
Also set to be recognized are Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen, Mrs. Folashade Alli, SAN, Alhaji Abiola Oyebanji, SAN, Chief Kunle Agbebi, SAN, former Minister of Aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Prof. Eucharia Chinweze of Imo State University, and Prince Seye Kosoko, a former Company Secretary of First Bank Ltd.
Other notable honorees include former Nigerian Ambassador to Mozambique, Ambassador Yamah Mohammed, Kano-based lawyer and business tycoon Mahmoud Usman El-Tayed, Mr. Eric Elujekor of the Investment and Security Tribunal, taxation expert Ms. Chinyere Ike, aviation law expert Mr. Mathew Chiedu, and the Group Company Secretary of Tolaram Group, Pastor Funmi Ayo-Odugbesan.
In addition to the honors, a health awareness talk will be delivered by Dr. Maymunah Yusuf Kadiri, and the event will feature the groundbreaking ceremony for a medical clinic at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, to be led by Attorney-General Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.
The statement urged all members of the Class of ’85 to attend the reunion luncheon in large numbers, emphasising the event’s significance in celebrating their achievements and contributions to the legal profession and beyond.
