NBA Unity Bar Abuja To Hold Hybrid Law Week, August 27-31

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja branch (UNITY BAR) will hold its 2021 annual law week between August 27-31, at the Executive Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
A statement signed by Ikemefuna Onyeka, NBA Abuja (Unity Bar) Publicity Secretary listed a programme schedule of events to mark the Dr Hauwa Shekarau-led Unity Bar Law Week 2021 as follows:
27th Aug, 2021 – Jumat prayer at Al Noor Mosque, Wuse 2, Abuja.
28th Aug, 2021- Health Walk. Takeoff Point : FCT High Court, Maitama.
29th Aug, 2021 – Thanksgiving Service at ECWA Church, Plot F61005 Adekunle Fajuyi Street, Central Business District, Abuja.
30th Aug, 2021 – Opening Ceremony /Morning & Afternoon Sessions at Executive Hall, International Conference Centre, Abuja.
31st Aug, 2021 – Morning Sessions and Dinner/Cultural Night at Executive Hall, International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The event’s planning committee chairman, Mr Steve Emelieze has stated that its theme, ‘Insecurity, Rule of law and Human Rights: Are we on the right path?’ is a reflection of the country’s current state of affairs.
According to him, the keynote speaker for the event is the Country Representative, United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Monrovia, Liberia, Dr Uchenna Emelonye.
“The NBA Abuja Branch is contributing its quota to the national discourse to find solution to the insecurity challenges and also proffering solutions to some other challenges facing our country,” the alternate Law Week Planning Committee Chairman, Afam Okeke said.
He added: “I expect the Law Week to be a successful one, considering the level of preparation done so far by the committee under the able leadership of Mr Steve O. Emelieze. The Keynote Speaker and panelists have been carefully selected.
“It is going to be a very robust and rewarding experience for the participants. At the end of the programme, the resolutions and suggestions will be made available to the relevant government agencies for further action and a catalyst for useful policy formulation.”
