NBA To Unveil Groundbreaking Digital Stamp And Seal
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is set to unveil its innovative Digital Stamp and Seal, a groundbreaking technology designed to enhance the authenticity and security of legal documents in Nigeria.
The development follows the NBA’s contract signed on 19 June 2024 under the leadership of Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, for the implementation of a Secured Digital Stamp and Seal with Verification System. This state-of-the-art solution leverages blockchain technology, ensuring that every stamp is unique, tamper-proof, and verifiable.
The NBA Digital Stamp and Seal is seamlessly integrated into Microsoft Word (2017 Edition and above), allowing lawyers to affix digital stamps directly within the document interface. This integration not only streamlines the process but also guarantees that each stamp remains secure and verifiable, addressing concerns of document authenticity.
Additionally, the NBA has introduced a user-friendly e-commerce portal, enabling members to purchase digital stamps conveniently and securely. Complementing this is the NBA Digital Stamp & Seal Verification App, available on Android and iOS. The app allows the public to verify the authenticity of legal documents with a simple smartphone scan, further bolstering confidence in the legal system.
This initiative by the NBA leadership is a strategic move to protect the profession and reinforce public trust in the legitimacy of legal documents.
The official unveiling of the NBA Digital Stamp and Seal is scheduled for Monday, 19 August 2024, at the NBA House in Abuja, starting at 10 a.m. Lawyers and the public are invited to participate in this landmark event. The event will also be accessible online here.
