Under Maikyau’s leadership, Mohammed noted, there was a strong focus on mentoring young lawyers, which has inspired a new generation and laid a solid foundation for the future of the legal profession in the country. His tenure was marked by a series of capacity-building programs on emerging areas of law, benefiting both senior and junior lawyers.
One of the standout initiatives of Maikyau’s tenure was the introduction of the digital seal, an innovation that modernized legal practice and helped prevent impostors from infiltrating the profession. This move was praised for bringing the Nigerian legal system closer to global best practices.

This initiative has been instrumental in ensuring the well-being of legal practitioners, enabling them to better serve the nation.
Additionally, Maikyau’s efforts to improve the welfare of judges were highlighted as a significant achievement. His successful campaign for better working conditions and benefits for judicial officers, culminating in the enactment of the Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, Etc.) Act, was recognized as a historic milestone in strengthening the judiciary.
As Maikyau steps down, Mohammed expressed confidence that his legacy will continue to resonate within the legal community. She acknowledged that his tenure has set a high standard and that his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
Mohammed also congratulated the newly elected NBA executive, led by Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and wished them success in their administration. She expressed hope that the new leadership will build upon the achievements of their predecessors for the betterment of the profession and the country at large.
