NBA Sets November Conference In Asaba To Advance Inclusion For Lawyers With Disabilities

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lawyers with Disabilities Forum has confirmed that its 2025 Annual Conference will hold in Asaba, Delta State.

The event, scheduled for November 25 to 26, will carry the theme “Beyond Triumphs: Advancing Inclusion, Impact and Leadership for Persons with Disabilities.”

NBA Lawyers with Disabilities Forum Chairperson, Ms. Patience Nkeonyeasua Etumudon, said the conference will focus on inclusion, leadership, and implementation of disability rights.

According to her, the gathering will move beyond celebrating past achievements to spotlight strategies for sustainable impact in the justice system.

Delegates will explore critical issues, including accessibility within courts, enforcement of legislation, and the role of technology in bridging barriers for persons with disabilities.

Workshops, storytelling sessions, mentorship opportunities, and pro bono clinics will supplement plenary discussions, ensuring a balance of inspiration and practical solutions.

Organisers confirmed that senior advocates, judges, policy experts, government officials, and disability rights leaders will participate. Their contributions will combine systemic reform discussions with personal journeys shaping equality movements in Nigeria.

The choice of Asaba, Etumudon noted, symbolises decentralisation and inclusivity. The city’s infrastructure, cultural richness, and accessibility provide an ideal backdrop for a national disability-focused dialogue.

She emphasised that hosting the event in Asaba shows NBA’s commitment to making inclusion conversations resonate across different regions of Nigeria.

By the end of the two-day event, participants are expected to produce actionable strategies to strengthen access to justice and leadership pathways.

The conference aims to leave attendees with concrete steps, renewed networks, and tools to push Nigeria closer to a more inclusive legal future.
