NBA Sango Ota Branch Targets Touts, Fake Lawyers In Ogun State
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Sango Ota Branch has launched a campaign to eliminate touts and fake lawyers operating around courts in Ogun State. This move aims to restore order and ensure the public is represented by genuine legal professionals.
To tackle this issue, the NBA Sango Ota has established a three-member anti-touting committee tasked with identifying and prosecuting fake lawyers, particularly those operating in the Ifo Magistrate Court and Ifo High Court areas.
The committee, chaired by Barrister A.O. Daramola, has issued a warning to the public, urging caution when selecting legal representatives. The committee also includes Morufu Ajibade and R.O. Okeowo, who have reminded licensed lawyers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, both in appearance and conduct, within and outside court premises.
In a related development, the Ogun State Judicial Commission has strengthened its operations by hiring judicial research officers across the state. According to a source at the commission’s office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, job applications have been posted on the notice boards of all courts in the state. The notice, signed by Acting Secretary O.O. Adebo, invites interested lawyers to apply, with shortlisted candidates to be contacted for interviews.
