NBA Remuneration Committee Seeks Nationwide Compliance During Delta State Advocacy Visit

 

The NBA Remuneration Committee, led by its chairman, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, has visited the Delta State Ministry of Justice to advocate for full implementation of the 2023 Remuneration Order.

During the visit, Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ohwovoriole Ekemejero, Esq., warmly received the delegation alongside Solicitor General Amamuzu Erebe, Esq.

The discussions centred on ensuring fair remuneration for lawyers in both public and private practice.

Welcoming the committee, Erebe assured them of the state government’s full compliance with the remuneration directive. “All Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in Delta State have implemented the Remuneration Order 2023,” Erebe stated. “The state remains committed to fair pay for legal professionals.”

The NBA Remuneration Committee Chairman, Chief Obegolu, SAN, commended the state’s efforts. “Delta State is setting an example,” he said. “Proper remuneration strengthens the legal profession and ensures justice delivery.”

The NBA Remuneration Committee also met with NBA Asaba Branch Remuneration Committee Chairman, Peter Mrakpor, SAN. Discussions focused on enforcing compliance among private law firms and securing better working conditions for young lawyers.

Mrakpor pledged to continue sensitising firms about the remuneration guidelines. “We appreciate the NBA’s support,” he said. “Fair pay boosts morale and professionalism in legal practice.”

Obegolu, SAN, reiterated the NBA Remuneration Committee’s commitment to enforcing the order nationwide. “We will keep engaging stakeholders to ensure compliance,” he assured.

The NBA Remuneration Committee has used its advocacy visit to Delta State to gather insights on best practices for achieving nationwide compliance with the 2023 Remuneration Order.

During discussions, Committee Chairman Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, urged legal practitioners in Delta to actively monitor and report breaches of the order. “Lawyers must take responsibility for ensuring compliance by reporting violations to the appropriate authorities,” he said.

He assured the legal community that the NBA Remuneration Committee remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to improve lawyers’ welfare nationwide. “We will continue working with all relevant bodies to ensure fair remuneration for legal practitioners promoting best practices in legal remuneration across all states in Nigeria,” Obegolu stated.
