NBA President Visits Ondo State Governor Ahead Of NEC Meeting, Applauds Bar-Bench Collaboration

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on Tuesday, led a delegation of NBA National Officers and Bar Leaders on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The visit comes ahead of the NBA National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting scheduled to hold in Akure on February 6, 2025.
During the meeting, Mazi Osigwe commended the Ondo State Government for its continued support of the legal profession and the judiciary. He acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in strengthening the relationship between the Bar and the Bench, emphasizing the importance of judicial independence and effective collaboration in promoting justice and the rule of law.
“We appreciate your administration’s dedication to the legal profession and your role in fostering a harmonious working relationship between the Bar and the Bench in Ondo State. This synergy is a model that should be replicated in other states,” the NBA President stated.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his response, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring a conducive environment for legal practitioners in the state. He also pledged full support for the NBA NEC Meeting, expressing confidence that the deliberations will yield positive outcomes for the legal profession and the country.
The NBA NEC Meeting, which is the association’s highest decision-making body outside the Annual General Meeting, will bring together senior Bar leaders, national officers, past NBA Presidents, and branch chairmen to discuss critical issues affecting the legal profession and governance in Nigeria.
With preparations in top gear, stakeholders anticipate that resolutions from the meeting will significantly influence legal practice and policy implementation in the country.
