NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, led the National Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho. The visit aimed to strengthen bar-bench relations and improve the administration of justice.
Osigwe emphasised the importance of continuous dialogue between the NBA and the judiciary. He called for alternative courtrooms for high-profile cases to ease disruptions caused by security concerns.
The Chief Judge welcomed the NBA delegation and reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to working with the legal profession. He noted that e-filing exists in Abuja and Lagos but urged the NBA to educate lawyers on virtual hearings and other technological tools.

Osigwe assured the Chief Judge that the NBA would collaborate to enhance court efficiency. He emphasized the need for seamless digital payment methods and improved case management strategies. He also pledged NBA’s support for judicial reforms that enhance access to justice.
Justice Tsoho cautioned lawyers against publicly criticising court rulings without proper legal analysis. He advised legal practitioners to avoid discussing sub judice matters in the media. Osigwe acknowledged these concerns and promised that cases of professional misconduct would be referred to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC).

To commemorate the Federal High Court’s 50th anniversary, Justice Tsoho presented a golden emblem to Osigwe and the NBA executives. The visit reinforced the shared commitment of the NBA and the judiciary to uphold justice, maintain professional ethics, and ensure an efficient legal system.
