NBA President Commends Armed Forces’ Sacrifices On 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

On the significant occasion of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stands in solidarity with the men and women of the Armed Forces, recognizing and commending their unwavering commitment to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a statement released today, NBA President Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, praised the fallen heroes and veterans who have made immense sacrifices for the nation. The NBA expressed pride in the gallant men, women, and officers of the Armed Forces, acknowledging their contributions to the country.
“We remain grateful to the fallen heroes who laid down their lives to guarantee the continued corporate existence of our beloved country and the relative peace we enjoy,” said Mr. Maikyau.
The statement emphasized that a day is insufficient to celebrate those who sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation’s territorial integrity and the promotion of peace nationally, regionally, and globally. The NBA called for a unified and indissoluble nation, upholding values such as truth, peace, and justice – the ideals for which the fallen heroes paid the supreme price.
Commending the commitment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the NBA expressed support for ongoing efforts to reform the country’s security architecture. The association called for substantial investments in the security sector, including training, better pay, and improved equipment.
The NBA conveyed confidence that, with the support of Nigerians and the dedication of the Armed Forces, the fight against banditry, terrorism, and insurgencies would achieve a resounding victory.
In conclusion, NBA President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, assured the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of the NBA’s unwavering professional support in the collective quest to bequeath a united, secured, peaceful, and prosperous country to future generations.
The statement concluded with a resounding call: “God bless the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
