NBA-NEC Greenlights Budget And Registration Fees For 2024 AGC In Emergency Yola Meeting
The Nigerian Bar Association’s National Executive Committee (NBA-NEC) convened an urgent session at the AU Club’s Staff Club Conference Hall in Yola, Adamawa State, where they ratified the budget and registration fees for the much-anticipated 2024 Annual General Conference (AGC).
During the meeting, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, the chairman of the 2024 NBA AGC TCCP, revealed significant updates regarding this year’s conference. Notably, she announced a regional format for the sports competition, with only the finals slated for inclusion during the conference week. Expressing concerns over the prevailing 30% inflation rate, Badejo-Okunsanya stressed the necessity to reassess the budget to maintain the quality of conference materials.
Presenting the proposed conference rates, Badejo-Okunsanya urged NEC members to deliberate on the three schedules previously tabled during the Jos NEC meeting. Following deliberations, the revised conference fees were formally approved:

The 2024 NBA Annual General Conference, themed “Pressing Forward: A National Posture for Rebuilding Nigeria,” is slated for August 23 to 30, 2024, in Lagos. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), is set to deliver the keynote address.
The NBA Annual General Conference 2024 fees have been a topic of discussion, stemming from the initial budget presented at the NEC meeting in Jos, which proposed higher fees, after which the NBA President requested NEC members to review the budget for further deliberation. Also, the National YLF Chairman advocated for reduced fees for young lawyers during the NEC in Jos.
The revised budget presented at the Yola NEC was reduced to accommodate economic realities while ensuring the conference’s success. Despite public perception, it’s commendable that the administration is considerate of young lawyers’ challenges.
Economic changes, like the increased cost of commodities, justify the current fees. Clearing previous conference debts to vendors highlights the financial constraints faced by the NBA. Further reductions could exacerbate this situation.
