NBA Mourns Legal Scholar, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh Ijaodola, SAN  

 

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of legal scholar and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Prof. Rasheed Jimoh Ijaodola. He passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy in legal education and jurisprudence.

Prof. Ijaodola, called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984, was elevated to SAN in 2021 in the academic category. He was a renowned intellectual with an unwavering commitment to legal excellence, justice, and mentorship.

As a former Dean of Law at Al-Hikmah University and Igbinedion University, he shaped the careers of countless legal professionals. His three Ph.D. degrees showcased his passion for knowledge and scholarship.

A prolific writer, Prof. Ijaodola authored more than 14 books and 100 scholarly articles on electoral law, democracy, tax law, and judicial administration. His works remain valuable references for scholars, policymakers, and legal practitioners.

Beyond law, he embraced interdisciplinary studies, demonstrating an open-minded approach to knowledge. Despite being a devout Muslim, his scholarship extended into Christian Studies, reflecting his commitment to intellectual diversity.

The NBA acknowledged his contributions to bridging legal, religious, and socio-political discourse in Nigeria. His ability to foster understanding beyond ethnic and ideological divides earned him widespread respect.

The legal community mourns his loss, recognizing the void left by his passing. However, his legacy endures through the many students and colleagues he mentored.

The NBA and the SAN rank honour the memory of Prof Ijaodola, offering condolences to his family, friends, and the legal profession. May his soul rest in peace.
